Do you suffer from cold sores? On this site we’re going to discuss what they are and how to get rid of them.
A cold sore (also called a fever blister) is a small blister or sore on the lips or around the mouth. It is caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1). A person can carry the virus without cold sores appearing.
About 80% of American adults have the virus that causes cold sores. Some of them suffer outbreaks of cold sores as often as once a month, while others rarely or never get the sores.
Some symptoms associated with cold sores are inflammation of the cheek and gums, nausea, dizziness, headaches, fever, and sore throat.
The virus is transmitted by direct contact (such as kissing) with an infected person or sharing utensils. This usually happens when someone has an active outbreak of cold sores.
Next we will discuss how to get rid of your cold sores.
